How to Add a New Dataset

Datasets can be created from different elements of Labguru, collecting their data into one place

A dataset, in Labguru, is a set of experimental results or any set of numerical/textual data in a table format.

Data files in the form of Excel or text that are added to experiments pages, plate and form elements, can be turned into datasets. Labguru can identify existing inventory items and will create a new entry in that item's page with the relevant data from the file.

One important rule.  Datasets must have headers. When attaching a file you want to save as a dataset, make sure you arrange the file in advance in a way that the first row has values.

The dataset can be filtered and sorted to improve data clarity, allow better decision-making, and enhance usability by allowing you to control how the data is displayed.

Datasets can be created from:

1. From Files uploaded to Experiment pages:

You can turn any data files (Excel, .csv or .txt files) into a dataset after you attach them to your experiments. That will not affect the attachment, but will create a new dataset in the account. Once the creation of the dataset is completed you will get an email notification. If you want to change the name of the dataset or add description you can click on 'Edit' in the dataset page.

2. From a Form element:

Labguru offers a Form element that can be added to protocols. When a protocol with a form element is turned to an experiment, the performer of the experiment can then enter the data and interact only in designated areas.

When creating a form element, click on the 'Link with dataset' at the upper right corner in the form:

Name the new dataset and click 'Save':

3. From 'Datasets' Index page:

Go to 'Knowledge' module and choose 'Datasets' from the drop down menu:

Click on 'Add new dataset':

Import you dataset file, follow the instructions to ensure a successful upload:

4. From Plate show page:

Go to 'Plates' under 'Storage' menu,

or click on the name of the plate in the experiment page:

When entering into the plate show page, click on 'Add new Dataset':
