In the lab, we store stocks of all types, (i.e. tubes, vials, package, etc.) in boxes, which are also stored in designated storage locations.

In Labguru a "box” can be designed according to the users needs, from a regular 9x9 cold box to a stand of 50ml conical tubes, stored in liquid nitrogen or a bag stored on a shelf at room temperature. Labguru can cater to any format!

Create the perfect box:

Access the 'Boxes' tab from the 'Storage' module:

Click on '+New Box':

Design your box and choose its properties:

  1. Name your box (required)

  2. Barcode associated with the box.

  3. How many boxes to create (required).

  4. Add content type - The types correspond to your existing inventory collections. A general box can hold any type of stocks from any collection.
If specifying the content type correctly, Labguru will then know to offer you this box when adding new relevant stocks to the account.

  5. Choose the dimensions -
Rows X Columns grid where each stock will have a designated position.
Grid-less box which contains a content list without specific positions.

  6. Choose a color from the options of the drop-down menu.

  7. Choose the box owner.

  8. Add additional information in the Description field.

  9. Select the storage location of the box.

    Click on 'Save'.

Boxes can be also created when using the import tool for importing items/stocks. In the import template file you can specify the properties for the new box and select the storage location. The new box will have 'General' as content type.

Gridless boxes can be created by adding the 0 value for the columns and rows.

Box Privacy

The privacy of the box, which determines who can edit the box and the stocks it contains, can be managed from the box layout page after the box was created.

In this page click on 'Editable by' and choose the members who will have editing permission:

Note: Only if the permission list includes all the members of the account the box is set as 'Public', otherwise it is set as 'Private'.
