Labguru allows you to preview PDB (Protein Data Bank) files directly within your experiments using a built-in 3D molecular structure viewer. This makes it easy to visually explore protein and molecular structures without downloading external software.

The PDB viewer is powered by Mol* (MolStar), providing advanced molecular visualization capabilities directly inside Labguru.

Adding a PDB File to an Experiment

PDB files can be added to an experiment as standard attachments.

To add a PDB file:

  1. Upload the PDB file as an attachment to an experiment section.

  2. Hover over the attachment box.

  3. Select Add to page.

Once added, the PDB file is rendered inside the experiment section using the 3D structure viewer.

Viewing and Interacting with PDB Files

When a PDB file is added to the page, Labguru displays it using the Mol* molecular viewer, allowing full interactive exploration of the structure.

Within the viewer, you can:

  • Rotate, pan, and zoom the 3D structure

  • Switch between different structural representations (cartoon, surface, sticks, etc.)

  • Highlight chains, residues, or ligands

  • Adjust coloring schemes and visibility

  • Inspect atomic and residue-level details

  • Explore protein, nucleic acid, and small-molecule structures
